About MHIP
The Missouri Health Insurance Pool (MHIP) was established by statute in 1991. Since its inception, MHIP has provided comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage to Missourians who can't get individual insurance because of health conditions, exhaustion of COBRA benefits, or other lack of availability.
In July 2010, MHIP expanded its mission to include coverage offered through a new federal pool. This pool provides insurance to people with pre-existing conditions who have been without coverage for six months or longer.
